Multidisciplinary Research Training in GERONTOLOGY

Now Accepting Applications for Postdocs for appointment for the 2021-2022 academic year – Flexible start dates

We are soliciting applications for Postdoctoral positions in our Multidisciplinary Research Training in Gerontology Program.  Postdoctoral students should have a research focus on factors influencing human physical or mental health and aging. The aim of this program is to support emerging scientists who will do state of the art work in their own field of study but also have knowledge of how multiple disciplines approach the study of aging. This program is supported by a grant from the Behavioral and Social Science Division of the National Institute on Aging to the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology Center at USC.  Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.   This program supports five postdoctoral trainees.  Trainees must have been awarded a PhD degree by the time they begin.  Trainees can be from a variety of fields: Gerontology, Demography, Sociology, Economics, Public Health, Medicine, Public Policy, Psychology, Biology, Social Work and Neuroscience.  Trainees are mentored in research by two members of the training faculty.  The usual length of traineeship is 2 years.  These awards consist of stipends, tuition (if needed), health insurance, and a travel allowance.

Address questions to Eileen M. Crimmins, AARP Professor of Gerontology, crimmin@usc.edu or Linda Hall, lindah@usc.edu

Applicants should provide a letter of application, a statement of research, a C.V., and letters of reference.  We expect potential trainees to have made contact with the training director or a mentor on the grant who will support the application.  See the list of mentors below.
