"Physical declines begin earlier than expected among U.S. adults" - Science Daily. 07/21/2016

Harvey Jay Cohen and other Duke researchers studied a group of MURDOCK Study participants, ages 30 to 100, while they performed activities indicating strength, endurance, and balance – e.g., rising from a chair repeatedly, standing on one leg. Researchers found both men and women in their mid-life decade began to slip in their abilities, with the decline continuing through the next decades. Their analyses reinforce the importance of physical exercise and activity in mid-life as well as the “need for a physical performance screener that spans adulthood…for identifying functional decline.”
