Eileen Crimmins was selected to receive the Gerontological Society of America’s Robert W. Kleemeier Award for 2012, given in recognition of outstanding research in gerontology. Crimmins, director of the USC-UCLA Center on Biodemography and Population Health,, is an internationally recognized expert on aging whose research looks at how socioeconomic factors influence health and life expectancy. She has been a pioneer in developing and modeling the concept of healthy life expectancy. The award will given at GSA’s Annual Meeting, Nov 14-18, in San Diego.
