"Get Off My Lawn: Living With Kids Makes Seniors Less Happy" - Forbes. 06/13/2013
The percentage of Americans living in multigenerational households is higher today, at 16%, than it has been since the 1950s, and is expected to increase in the decades ahead. Angus Deaton and Arthur Stone found that seniors living in households with children under the age of 18 report less happiness and more stress, worry, and anger than counterparts who do not. They also found seniors living with kids in wealthy European countries with low fertility rates are also less happy. But in Africa and South Asia, poorer regions with high fertility rates, seniors who live in multigenerational homes report more happiness.
