In a recent study using HRS data, Gary Engelhardt, Michael Eriksen, and Nadia Greenhalgh-Stanley find that home ownership confers more financial security and fewer impediments to good health among seniors than does renting. Among other benefits, owning a home is associated with a greater tendency to age in place.
