In a new study published in the *Annals of Internal Medicine*, Rodney Hayward, Sanjay Basu and colleagues find 2013 pooled cohort equations – a key tool in estimating CVD risk and guiding treatment – misestimate by as much as 20% the 10-year risk of heart attack or stroke. Basu says that when he and his colleagues updated the statistical modeling with more recent data, they produced what they feel is a more accurate estimation.
