A new UCLA study involving Morgan Levine and Hoorman Allayee indicates that Latinos age more slowly than other ethnic groups. The UCLA investigators used an “epigenetic clock” developed by PI Steve Horvath in 2013 to track molecular shifts related to aging. Horvath says: “We suspect that Latinos’ slower aging rate helps neutralize their higher health risks, particularly those related to obesity and inflammation.”
