"Number of genetic markers linked to lifespan triples" - Science Daily. 12/07/2017

Using data from the UK Biobank compared to data from the Health and Retirement Study and the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study, researchers conducted a genome-wide search for variants that influence longevity. Their search yielded 25 such genetic variants, where prior research had previously linked 8. The researchers conclude: “The results suggest that human longevity is highly polygenic with prominent roles for loci likely involved in cellular senescence and inflammation, plus lipid metabolism and cardiovascular conditions. There may also be gender specific routes to longevity.”
